Handpainted Antique Chinese Wardrobe Chest with Natural Landscape Design

This 59-inch wide antique Chinese wardrobe chest is between 80 and 120 years old and comes from northeastern China, where we found a small number of these unique pieces. Skilled artisans in China restored it and applied a lacquer finish to bring out the natural wood grain of the solid elmwood. The cabinet features finely detailed, hand-turned, and beveled framing around twenty hand-painted and carved panels. These panels display a variety of floral designs, figurine oil paintings, and carved calligraphy on richly grained wood. The three sets of doors, each with original handmade brass handles, open to reveal generous storage space and two interior drawers for smaller items. The cabinet measures 59 inches wide, 21 inches deep, and 61 inches high. It can serve as an armoire, entertainment center, or bookcase in any room that needs storage and a striking focal point. Its bold yet simple Asian design fits well in modern, cottage, or contemporary spaces.
