Asian Dowery Chest Hand Carved Elmwood

On a current trip to China, we dicovered a limited collection of 40-50 year old, warehoused items and were able to transport them to the States. This exquisite wedding dowry cabinet is made of solid Elmwood and hand carved with hand painting depictions of wedding scenes. Made in Fujian province, and in very good condition, it is ready to use in any interior. Gold leaf is used to enhance the carved accents. This vintage cabinet showcases exceptional craftsmanship, with intricate carvings of birds and flowers, and golden foo dogs with eggshell inlays at the top handle. The brass handles on the sides of this Chinese chest help carry it. Traditionally used in a wedding procession, this wedding chest also features rounded top handles, fitted for a carrying pole. This unique cabinet offers storage behind the two doors and fits into any room. A protective hand-rubbed lacquer finish prevents watermarks and ensures a durable surface for generations of use.
