Chinese Stacking Wedding Box Golden Pine and Black Lacquer Handpainted

This large, decorative, antique Chinese set of four stacking boxes adds a unique design element to your living space. Richly painted gold figures with contrasting black lacquer make a statement when used as an end table or on a tabletop. Designed for carrying, this portable lacquered wedding box features four octagonal, separate tiers, offering storage and tray use. Finished inside and out and crafted from applewood, rattan, and bamboo. Each side is handpainted with gold lacquer figures and contrasting black lacquer carrying handles. A decorative rattan weave is featured on the bamboo handles, complemented by the aged and original forged iron handle and fittings, which add both practicality and character.
In Asian tradition, stacking boxes were used to transport and store food during ceremonial or festive occasions, such as weddings, religious offerings, or other special events. They were also practical for storing and transporting food items from the market.
